Tax Day Tea Party
April 12, 2009
I am quite curious what the numbers will be this Wednesday for the Tax Day Tea Parties? In addition, who will be paying attention? Obviously, those who care about the current state of our nation, but what about those in Washington and our local state governments? Will this trend be fleeting or is this something that will gain speed?
I, unfortunately, will not be able to attend a tea party as I have to work. And I am not in a job where I can just take a day off. So, I will be there in heart and mind. I really wanted to go to the one in San Antonio. Not just because Glenn Beck will be there, but because the history of the Alamo is a great theme for a Tea Party. We have one near us in downtown Houston, at J0nes plaza. By the time I make it off of work, I probably would not get to catch a piece of it. None in either Katy or Richmond. Next time, I guess. I still say we need a National Tea Party on the steps of the Capitol Building. A good old fashioned march on Washington will definitely get people paying attention.
I certainly hope this trend is not fleeting. It would be a shame.
Speaking of Tea Parites, it has become quite the lucarative business. Between Zazzle, Cafe Press and the Tax Day Tea Party website, I am quite curious how much money is being made off of it. Also, where are the funds going? I wonder if anyone is doing something other than lining their own pockets with some cash? Not that free enterprise is a bad thing. If someone is able to create their own small business off of this, than more power to them. Big Brother hasn’t finished killing off Capitalism just yet. But, it wouldn’t hurt if someone was doing something greater than themselves with any profit they may be making.
Our founding fathers would be proud if they saw the people banding together and fighting the behemoth that is now our Government. It is just unfortunate that we have allowed our country to turn into the very thing that they, the founding fathers, tried so hard to disallow by writing The Constitution. It is to bad we do not have a giant “Reset” button to push to get back to the basics. Maybe, just maybe, the right person in our political system will be awaken by these tea parties and start their very own movement inside the Capitol Building. We can only hope.
Is It Treason?
April 4, 2009
I do not think I could ever be as angry as I was when I woke up this morning, turned on the news and discovered that our President had another major case of diarrhea of the mouth, apologizing for the US being “arrogant” and “dismissive” towards its allies, while there was “insidious anti-Americanism in Europe”. He said these attitudes had to “change”, while at a town hall meeting in Strasbourg, France. If anyone is suffering from arrogance, it is him. This is just one more time that the wolf pokes its head out from under the sheep’s clothing.
It is time NOW for the real leaders in America to stand up and unite against this charlatan. The elected leaders in the House and Senate, who believe in the Constitution of the United States, the leaders who believe in the principals and values that our country was founded upon, the leaders who understand that our great country is a symbol of hope and opportunity to all those living oppressed in other countries, these leaders, need to stand up and hold our President accountable and begin investigating our President for his treasonous behavior.
For those of you, who believe that I am over reacting, let me give you the official definition of treason per Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary and the Constitution for the United States of America:
From Merriam-Webster
trea·son
Pronunciation: \ˈtrē-zən\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English tresoun, from Anglo-French traisun, from Latin tradition-, traditio act of handing over, from tradere to hand over, betray — more at traitor
Date: 13th century
1 : the betrayal of a trust : treachery 2 : the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign’s family
The Constitution for the United States of America
Article III, Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.
The easiest way for a revolution to succeed is from the inside out. And that is exactly what our President is doing. He is attempting to turn the United States into another European community. Does he not know global history past and present? This is exactly what the founding fathers created the United States to escape, Europe. It takes a blind man not to see the issues other countries are facing by trying to adopt the laws of foreign countries and religions to make a handful of citizens happy. France, Germany and England to name a few of the countries that have tried and are suffering great consequences for doing so. Heck, they are even telling us to not follow the same path they did and our President isn’t even listening. In addition to trying to adopt international law as our law, he has accelerated the assault on Capitalism and the free market. What better way to change a country than to completely ruin its financial system? Once he breaks the proverbial “bank”, he will say that he tried everything to fix the problem, but it was too late once GWB got his hands on it. Pass the buck on the last guy and try to look like the hero by telling us we need to “start fresh”, toss out the Constitution, because it is old and outdated. Frankly, our President is slowly, but surely waging a war on our Constitution from inside the White House and the halls of the Capitol Building. His appointments to various political offices and his creation of Czars are in place to help him disassemble the frameworks of this country are his Generals in his war against the Constitution and the American people. Those two behaviors, an act of betrayal against the country and the attempt to overthrow our government from within are precisely the reasons why President Obama can and should be tried for treason.
Other questionable behavior includes:
1- First Amendment violations during his run for the Presidency.
2- Allowing the GIVE Act to be tacked onto Volunteer Corps Act. The GIVE Act prohibits organizations from attempting to influence legislation; organize or engage in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes; and assist, promote, or deter union organizing. Once again, a violation of the First Amendment.
3- Second Amendment attacks by disallowing the Department of Defense from selling spent brass casings to manufacturers of ammunition to the civilian market. His wanting to “code” ammunition to track back to the purchaser, basically out pricing the average American citizen from even being able to afford a box of ammunition. His proposed “Million Dollar” liability insurance requirement for gun owners is outrageous and his wanting to force makers of ammunition to have an Explosives license will price the average American citizen right out of gun ownership.
4- His attempting to completely eradicate the Eleventh Amendment.
5- Allowing Federal and Local Law Enforcement Agencies to completely ignore/not enforce the Fourteenth Amendment.
6- By appointing figures to Federal Jobs who have knowingly and willingly violated the Sixteenth Amendment by not paying taxes.
7- 7- Bypassing the Constitution by appointing figures to positions of power without having o be approved by the House or the Senate.
Where is the ACLU now? Why aren’t they marching in the streets? Heck, why aren’t we all marching in the streets? I say we form a direct march on Washington itself. Camp out on the front steps of the Capitol Building and demand that our employees (elected officials) do their jobs or they are fired for the behavior in Washington. Starting with one Barack Hussein Obama and working down the list of every elected official, Republican, Democrat and Independent who has violated any of the laws our great country was founded upon. Then, and only then, will our elected officials start to listen again, then and only then can we become the beacon of hope for citizens of other countries, then and only then can we return to the principals and values that made the United States of America the greatest and most successful nation in the History of mankind.
It is time to take back this great country; John McCain said it best in his speech at the Republican National Convention:
“Fight for what’s right for our country.
Fight for the ideals and character of a free people.
Fight for our children’s future.
Fight for justice and opportunity for all.
Stand up to defend our country from its enemies.
Stand up for each other; for beautiful, blessed, bountiful America.
Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. Nothing is inevitable here. We’re Americans, and we never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history.”
Swamped!
March 21, 2009
I have been swamped at work the past few days, so twittering and blogging are out of the question. Hopefully, I will be back on cycle next week.
Responsibilities first, you know?
Agendas
March 19, 2009
Everyone has one. You have one, I have one and PBO has one too.
As a general rule, my agendas are to better my family and myself without hurting anyone in the process. I am sure the same can be said of you as well. However, with PBO’s agenda, we are only scratching the surface as to what he wants to accomplish. It has become obvious, to those of us, who were not blinded by the “Rock Star” that is PBO, that he is indeed intent on forcing this country into the direction of a Socialistic Society. He continues to add more and more to the list the people who find it necessary or are forced to suckle on the Governments teat and punish those of us who choose to be self-reliant and responsible. My questions are the following: Who has the most to gain if he does achieve his goal? Is it possible that PBO is fulfilling someone else’s agenda? How did PBO manage to fool so many people into believing that he wasn’t a Socialist?
As it stands today, we have indebted our children and their children to pay back the mistakes of the leaders of our generation. Also, I will probably end up working until the day I die, because there is no way that Social Security can survive this and my 401K is practically non-existent after all of the financial mess our country is currently suffering. And that is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. PBO has weakened relations with one of our greatest allies, made us a laughing stock with our existing strained relations and enemies, he has attempted on more than one occasion to weaken our military (and its soldiers morale), raised taxes, completely undermined the “War on Terror”, etc, etc, etc. The list is long enough as is, but I wonder how long it will be in two years. I am still holding my breath and wondering which Amendment of the Constitution he will violate and/or attempt eliminate first.
If PBO continues on the agenda we are aware of, there will be a strong chance that the Republicans will have the opportunity take back the House and Senate and most assuredly the White House with the upcoming elections in 2010 & 2012. I find it inconceivable that the American people will continue to stand by and watch as this country is eroded. But, how do they (Republicans) undo the damage that has already been done? Or can they? What about further damage that PBO and the Liberals may cause our country between now and then?
Let me add as a side note, that I do not fully lay blame on where we, as a country, are today solely at Obama’s feet. There are plenty of Democrats in the House and Senate that have or are trying to push their agendas through as quickly as possible due to their majority. In addition, several Republicans took full advantage utilizing the recent “Omnibus Bill” that was passed. We need to remember who those members are and vote them out of office just as quickly as the rest.
“Enlightened statesmen will not always be at the helm.” ~ James Madison
I have been feeling forgotten…..
March 15, 2009
Right after the election in November, I had decided to contact the Republican Party and start doing my part to help take back our government by 2010. However, since that time, I have been feeling increasingly forgotten by the party that I have supported for years. I cannot being myself to volunteer my time and efforts with a party that has forgotten me and like-minded individuals.
The RNC no longer follows the guidelines and principals that I believe in. Now, before anyone panics, I am not jumping ship and heading “Left”. Far from it. What I am looking for, is a political party out there who believes in the Conservative principals of old that led the Republican party to a landslide vitory in 1980, 1984 and even a very strong win in 1988.
Now, let me state that there are several individuals out there who are trying to keep hold of the Conservative Principals I believe in, but I fear the leadership of the Republican Party are not going to allow them to succeed. The Republican Party has this silly notion stuck in their heads that we need to be “moderate” in order to succeed in today’s political environment. I say hogwash! No disrespect to John McCain, he is a great American and has served our country honorably for years, however, running him against BHO was silly. McCain is great where McCain is at, a Senator. If anything, Palin would have been a better Presidential candidate with McCain as VP. That is my current opinion.
I was optimistic that Michael Steele would be a breath of fresh air for the RNC, however, given his current gaffes and questions about 2006 campaign funds, I am wondering if it was just one more nail in the coffin of the Republican Party. His recent issues in the press alone have just made the RNC look like a laughing stock. Now, I read articles stating that rumors are floating around the RNC that they want to get rid of Steele, but are afraid of being accused of racism if they did. Oy!
Now, there have been two beacons of hope in the past week.
Number one: Newt Gingrich is investigating the possibility of a run for the White House in 2012. This is fantastic news. Newt is an old school Conservative. I still have fond memories of him giving Clinton heck back in the day. It is time for the “Contract With America” to be dusted off and brought back to the light of day. However, before this can truly happen, the RNC needs to get their ducks in a row and remember whom they are supposed to be representing.
Number two: Glenn Beck’s creation of We Surround Them / The 912 Project. If you were unable to have watched or was unaware of this new phenomena, I highly recommed you take a look. I believe Beck is on to something. Figures, it takes an average American to come up with such an ambitous and, might I say, such a great idea. It was if he was speaking directly to what I have been feeling….Lost and forgotten.
So, what I need to do is give my time and effort to is to contacting Mr. Gingrich and letting him know that he has my support if he runs for the Presidency. In addition, I will need to find a “We Surround Them” group in my area and begin associating with like minded individuals. Maybe it is my turn to help others who have been feeling lost and forgotten. And to help the true Conservatives unite and have our voices heard again.
I will leave you all with a few quotes:
“God grant that not only the love of liberty but a thorough knowledge of the rights of man may pervade all nations of the earth, so that philosopher may set his foot anywhere on it’s surface and say: ‘This is my country’.” Benjamin Franklin, letter to David Hartley, December 4, 1789
“A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned – this is the sum of good government.“ Thomas Jefferson
“It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.“ George Washington
BHO made me laugh
March 10, 2009
This is the kind of story that you would only see in a Dark Comedy.
Anybody know which President gave 25 DVDs (wrong region) and then tried to re-gift a bust of Winston Churchill that the people of England gave us after 9/11?
Anybody know which Secretary of State had a button made that is supposed to say “reset button” in Russian to give to her equal as a sign of trying to get back to better relations. Instead, she has the man push a button that says “overcharge”. Irony, table of two please. You would think with all those translators at the State Dept, Clinton could have ensured it was correct.
And Bush was the Dolt? Fantastic.
Let’s piss off our greatest ally in the world and then make a laughing stock of our State Dept with one of our most strained relations.
Only BHO could make that happen. Yes We Can!
How many Czars do we need?
March 5, 2009
5 and counting folks. Here is the list, and it is still going to grow:
Energy and environment czar: Carol Browner, Environmental Protection Agency administrator in the Clinton administration
Health czar: Nancy-Ann DeParle, former official in the Clinton administration, overseeing healthcare issues
Urban affairs czar: Adolfo Carrion Jr., former Bronx borough president
Economic czar: Paul A. Volcker, former Federal Reserve chairman
Regulatory czar: Cass R. Sunstein, Harvard Law School professor
Government performance czar: Unfilled since Nancy Killefer resigned after it was revealed she had failed to pay tax obligations for household help
How do these positions not conflict with the Secretaries (Cabinet positions) that are to advise the President? Does the Health and Human Services Secretary have to confirm with the Health Czar before they meet with the President? And to me, the scariest part of the position of Czar, There is no Congressional oversight and no Senate confirmation necessary. And just for funsies, bigger government with more tax payer’s money, to carry the salaries.
Now, I realize that the position of “Czar” has been around since the 70’s, but how many does a President need? So much for smaller, smarter Government. Change is in the air.
Controlling the masses, part 2
March 4, 2009
The miseducation, or lack there of, of our youth is frightening at best.
What ever happened to the day, when you couldn’t spell “cat”, you couldn’t pass the first grade? Instead, we have replaced, good teaching with practicing for standardized testing and the attitude of “it’s not my problem anymore”.
What better way to keep the masses controlled. Keep them uneducated and let them live and die by what they see on the television as fact. A great example of how uneducated the masses are, is, that the Houston Chronicle’s writers must write at a third grade level, so that the majority of readers can understand what is being written. WHAT!?!?!?!?! A third grade level is the average reading skill of 632K people a week in one of the largest cities in the United States.
I remember that when I was in the 7th grade (yes, a long time ago), that in U.S. History, we studied the electoral college and why it is helpful in helping to elect a President that would represent the countries interests, not just a handful of states. 8th grade had me studying Texas Government and the importance of state legislation and how the people need to understand how they are represented. 9th grade had me memorize the introduction to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and understand how the Articles of the Confederation began our countries independence.
Now, I am going to use an example of how just 10 years after I completed these studies, how they have been ignored. My beautiful and loving wife (9 years younger than I), whom is a much smarter cookie than I, is now taking part time classes at night school. She was taught none of the above in Middle School and High School. She had to go to college to learn the basics of how our government works.
For argument’s sake, lets say that 70% of our youth make it to College after High School. That leaves 30% of the graduating class that may never learn how an election actually works, how our Constitution, Bill of Rights and The Articles of Confederation, effected the shaping of our great country. It is no wonder that many of our youth buy into the “Living, breathing Constitution” garbage. It is no wonder why what is said on the idiot box is bought and sold as pure fact and that this 30% doesn’t even know how to read an intelligent website/newspaper article to begin forming their own opinion.
So now, this makes twice, they are shackled. Shackled by relying on the Government teet for a monthly check and shackled by the education system for not teaching them how to have the proper skills to survive in a competitive world. I guess it is more important to indoctrinate our youth with teacher’s opinions on whom to vote for as opposed to educate them on how to form their own political opinion and how the system really works.
I feel like screaming like Howard Dean.
Teddy Roosevelt & hyphenated Americans
February 27, 2009
I was planning on waking this morning and waxing poetic about my disdain for those that feel the need to hyphenate themselves. When I did my usual quick Google search to ensure that I am not beating on a dead horse, I came across a speech by Teddy Roosevelt back in 1915, read it, and decided that TR would be much more eloquent than I.
“Hyphenated Americanism” Speech – Excerpt
Former President Theodore Roosevelt, October 12, 1915, in an address to the Knights of Columbus, Carnegie Hall, NYC.
“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all. This is just as true of the man who puts “native” before the hyphen as of the man who puts German or Irish or English or French before the hyphen. Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance. But if he is heartily and singly loyal to this Republic, then no matter where he was born, he is just as good an American as any one else.
The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic. The men who do not become Americans and nothing else are hyphenated Americans; and there ought to be no room for them in this country. The man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American. There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
For an American citizen to vote as a German-American, an Irish-American, or an English-American, is to be a traitor to American institutions; and those hyphenated Americans who terrorize American politicians by threats of the foreign vote are engaged in treason to the American Republic.
Wow! How appropriate in today’s PC society. I am curious if anyone else feels the way old TR and I do? I am an American first, a Texan second and a white man third.
Controlling the masses?
February 26, 2009
Have I gone paranoid or is this great country I live in going down the crapper faster than last night Big Mac?
37 days. Yes, it has only been 37 days and our new President has been working hard at pushing the slavery of the entire population of our country. He is not doing this by slapping a set of iron shackles on our wrists, rather by making us more and more dependent on him and his administration by slowly nationalizing our banks, boondogling our states into taking federal money for their lack of fiscal responsibility and by pushing hard to nationalize our healthcare system. Che-Obama is Socialising this country at such and alarming rate that Che Guevara would be proud. And the worst part, Che-Obama and his crew are doing this wihout spilling one ounce of blood, rather, getting everyone to follow him like mindless sheep.
What better way to control a population than to make it completely financially dependent upon the Government. Line up sheeple! Get yo Gubment duckets!
I want no part of it.
Even as I sit here typing this, I am half tempted to delete it and go about my life waiting for 2010 like a kid waiting for his first Playboy magazine. Hopefully it will be everything I hope it will be. Conservatives waking up and voting in record numbers and those that were guilted into voting for Obama due to white-guilt realizing that they made the biggest mistake of their entire life.
Blah!
